Barcamp: Things You Should Know

When and Where?

It starts at 9:00 am Saturday morning. The place is Sripatum University on Phaholyothin Road, between Kaset Nawamin Road and Chaeng Wattana. When you enter the campus, just follow the Barcamp signs.

See map here: http://tinyurl.com/barcamp-bangkok-at-sripatum

What to Expect

Here is how Barcamp works:

You come to Barcamp. You sign in and get a name badge (you will need to keep this; security at Sripatum asks that we wear them at all time. You register for a wifi password. You get a rockin' Barcamp T-shirt. For Free. Yeah—free.

Then it's time to post the topics you want to present. Post a topic that interests you. It doesn't have to be some fancy presentation. It can be a discussion or a panel. It can be tech related—or about anything. Be creative. Have fun.

Then we take a marker and vote for the topics we are interested. Mark he topics you are interested in. Mark one. Mark ten. Mark them all. Whatever interests you. The topics that get the most votes—those will be added to the agenda. When we have a full agenda—it's Barcamp time! We will have many interesting sessions on many topics. All day long. Until 6:00pm. With a lunch break and a snack. They meals are free. Yeah—free.

CMS Showdown in BarCamp Bangkok 3

Note: For Thai version, please read here.

You might hear of CMS Showdown, the competition among top CMSs to create a web site with the same requirement. Now we gonna have it in the night of BarCamp Bangkok 3!

What to do?

Not the actual competition like the original one (with the measurement on time and line of code), we just want to create something useful for Thai web site owners and developers. The goal is to port a single theme/template to each CMS's own theme/template system before dawn! The final themes/templates will be released under GPL and are freely available for everyone.

How to participate?

Each CMS has a team. Now we have three teams participating:

If you want to join any of these teams, please contact the team leader to get to know each other and prepare your supply for the SHOWDOWN!

If you're other CMS developer (e.g. Typo3, DotNetNuke, ...) and want to join, please contact @markpeak (markpeak@gmail.com) for the account and tools setup.

What to bring?

We will provide hosting facility and account for each team (including SSH and FTP). You need to bring your own laptop, power cord, and any other tools necessary for your web development approach (e.g. Firebug, your favourite IDE/editor)

More details will come on Saturday (23rd) daytime slot and the showdown will begin after dinner.
